1st ALIMENTARIA Workshop on Food Heritage

Organized by students from PhD “Food Heritage: Cultures and Identities” of University of Coimbra, the purpose of this workshop is to create a space for exposure and debate around the paths of Taste concepts within food universe, from Classical Age to Contemporaneity.

Five renowned researchers in the area of Food Studies will be responsible for five sessions, where the dimensions, conceptualizations and materialities of "Taste" will be discussed in the various historical periods and socio-cultural contexts.

To explore the different paths “Taste” has went through, as concept and substance, is the main objective of each guest speaker, which will take place on April 4th. The following day, speakers are invited to share the same path at a roundtable, conducted by the PhD Programme Coordinator, lining up common points and highlighting singularities of Taste concept in its entire historical, social and cultural extent.

It is intended that the discussion may contribute to the deepening of researches of students of graduation, masters and doctoral studies, as well as teachers of all levels of education, researchers, professionals of culture, tourism and heritage, and entrepreneurs of the food, cultural and heritage areas
